I’ve been doing some research into stereoscopic rendering and I’ve decided to jump on the bandwagon and turn my latest project into a 3D anaglyph animation. I’ll have some screen shots posted soon.

Decided to work on another short animation piece. This time I’m focusing on some particle effects with the initial design focused around a capsule with a red cross on it. I don’t have an official name so I’ll just call it “Instant Health” for now.

This capsule is the subject of my new animation "Instant Health" (working title)

After some modifications to the look of the fluid I finally was able to render and composite the elements rendered from Mental Ray.

So……..I learned a valuable lesson today in Realflow. When trying to create a slow motion effect its best to make sure you simulate at a higher frame rate and render at your default animation frame rate. I made the mistake of simulating the water at 24fps and when I rendered everything out, lets just say, it looked like a hot mess. To be more specific, the animation of the water was extremely too fast. My poor laptop has been chugging away re-simulating the water and building meshes for the particles. Hopefully my external hard drive has enough space to hold all the mesh files, these things eat up MB’s!! New update of the effect will be posted shortly. I’ll spare myself the embarrassment of posting the current video of the effect.

The following is a rough draft of a Realflow animation I’m working on. I’m in the process of re-rendering the liquid effect from Maya but, this version contains the timing of the piece.

The following image is a still image from a small clip I’m working on and currently rendering. Tool’s used were Maya, Realflow, and Mental Ray. The final image will be composited in Nuke.
